新奇な量子流体の物質探索と相制御

研究概要	新物質開発では、新しいパイロクロア超伝導体KOs_2O_6を発見した。エキゾチック超伝導の可能性が意識され話題を呼んでいる。舞台となるパイロクロア格子は幾何学的フラストレーションの極めて強い格子系として知られている。フラストレーションによって長距離秩序生成が妨げられた結果生じるスピンや電荷の液体状態形成が、超伝導発現に何らかの役割を果たしているのか、今後の展開に期待する。その他にも新しい水を含む層状カルコゲナイド超伝導体や新規三角格子Rh酸化物の熱電材料の開発などの新物質が次々と発見された。新しい物性開拓の手法として、界面を用いた光キャリアドーピングの手法を提唱した。TiO_2やSrTiO_3など還元性の強い物質と様々な物質の界面を作製し、これに紫外光を照射することで界面での光電荷の移動を生じさせ、これによって界面付近にキャリアを注入する。高温超伝導体やMn酸化物などにおいて、キャリア注入を示す電気抵抗の急激な変化を見出した。化学的手法によるドーピングが困難な系の金属化の新しい手法として更なる展開を図る予定である。フラストレーションの強いスピネル酸化物の物質開拓を行い、電荷秩序状態の相制御をAlV_2O_4を舞台に展開したほか、新しい競合相互作用系としてGeNi_2O_4を見出し、複雑な逐次相転移を明らかにした。また、相競合の結果超巨大磁気抵抗を生み出すマンガンペロブスカイト酸化物において陽イオンの秩序化を巧妙に制御することにより、乱れと相競合の関係を実験的に明らかにした。
