強相関電子系遷移金属酸化物での量子相分離の研究

研究概要

平成12年度は下記の内容を中心として研究を行った。
(1)La214系でのスピン相関を、特に超伝導-スピングラス相境界近傍で中性子散乱により研究した。その結果、超伝導相特有のスピン相関(スピン密度変調方向がCu-Oボンドと垂直または平行なので、「平行スピン相関」と呼ぶ)は、スピングラス相でのスピン相関(スピン密度変調方向がCu-Oボンドと45度斜め方向なので、「斜めスピン相関」と呼ぶ)との共存領域を持ちながら、1次相転移的に出現することがわかった。
(2)La214系でSrとBaを同時にドープし、両者の比率を変化させると、全ドープ量を保ったまま、構造相転移を制御できる。ドープ量1/8の単結晶を用いた研究により、超伝導、磁気秩序そして結晶構造の相関関係が明確になった。すなわち低温正方晶構造では、超伝導転移温度が約10K程度と低く、斜方晶構造になると、30K程度に不連続に変化する。一方、磁気秩序の発達する温度は、斜方晶構造では低くなる。これらの関係は、いわゆるストライプモデルで記述でき、低温正方晶構造で安定化された静的なストライプが超伝導を抑制することを示している。この安定化された状態では、電荷配列によると思われる、超格子反射も中性子散乱およびX線散乱で観測された。
(3)電子ドープ系NCCO(Nd_<2-x>Ce_xCuO_4)とNdスピンを含まない、PLCCO(Pr_<1-x>LaCe_xCuO_4)に関して単結晶が順調に作成され、ミューオンや中性子実験により、超伝導-磁気相図が作成できた。その結果、3次元的磁気秩序と超伝導が共存あるいは相分離している領域が明らかなった。磁気相関はホール系とは異なり、コメンシュレートで、単純な電荷ストライプは存在していないと考えられる。また超伝導との境界近傍では磁気秩序は100オングストローム程度の領域に限定されており、理想的な長距離秩序とは異なっていることがわかった。またPLCCOの単結晶によるNMR実験で、Cuスピン揺らぎの温度変化が測定され、擬ギャップ的な振舞が観測された。
