研究概要	ゲノム情報科学の推進を図るために班会議、シンポジウム、講習会等を開催した。平成14年度中に催したものの中で主なものを以下に示す。・第7回バイオインフォマティクス講習会「ヒトゲノム計画とインターネット」(7月、東京) ・情報系研究者・学生のためのゲノムシークエンス講習会(7月、横浜) ・ゲノム4領域合同班会議(8月、神戸) ・ゲノムひろば(11月、東京、福岡、京都) ・ゲノム情報国際会議(12月、東京) ・ゲノム情報科学成果公開シンポジウム(1月、東京) ・公開ワークショップGenProc2003(1月、東京) この他に広報活動の一環として一般向けビデオとパンフレットの作成を行った。また、これと並行して、ゲノム情報科学の人材養成、人材発掘を目的として、バイオインフォマティクスプログラミングコンテストBIP2003を開催した。57件の応募があった。また、ゲノム情報科学の成果を国際的な普及を目指して、計画班で開発されたデータベースやソフトウェアの公開支援を行った。現在約50件のデータベースやソフトウェアがインターネット上で公開され利用されている。研究の推進と関係者の情報交換を図るために、総括班に設けている「オントロジー整備委員会」と「ソフトウェア高速化および共有化委員会」では、情報抽出やオントロジー構築のためのリソース整備と共有化、バイオ研究のためのグリッドコンピューティングの環境整備(2003年3月現在で25サイト、115ノード、203CPUがインターネットを介して結合している)、などについて講演、討論、情報交換、作業などを行った。
