研究概要

学習と記憶、推論と思考および行動決定のそれぞれのダイナミックな情報表現を計算論的手法、神経回路モデル、電気生理学実験、行動実験によって明らかにした。具体的には次の成果を得た。
(1)ネズミに古典的条件付けや文脈依存の報酬課題を学習させ、オプチカルレコーデングとマルチユニットレコーデングによって海馬-皮質記憶系のダイナミックな情報表現を明らかにした。
(2)モルモットの海馬神経回路網で理論学習仮説(時空間学習則)を裏付ける"入力信号の同期生に依存した長期増強(LTP)"の実験結果を得た。
(3)オプチカルレコーデングとマルチユニットレコーデングのデータに独立成分解析を応用して、単一ニューロン活動の特徴を分類した。
(4)上記(1)〜(2)の実験結果に基づいて海馬-皮質記憶系のモデルシミュレーションを実施し、文脈に基づく記憶の書き込み・読み出しの高速化モデルを実現した。
(5)サルの視覚連合野において、visual flow(等速並進運動、回転運動、接近/離反、奥行きのある3次元運動)の情報表現の理論仮説を裏付ける研究成果を得た。
(6)前頭葉の神経活動に基づいて時間記憶の新規なモデルを提案した。
(7)2つの弁別課題を組合せ連続的・予測的に選択を行う課題をサルに学習させ、行動学習をさせることにより、推論機能の基礎となる予測的反応をサルが行っていることを明らかにした。またそのときの前頭前野ニューロンの活動を記録し、前頭前野が行動の実行のための認知情報処理だけでなく、刺激-報酬関係の予測的モニターも行っていることを示した。
