研究概要	高等生物に近いとされる分裂酵母をモデル実験系として、細胞周期の制御機構の研究を推進している.姉妹染色分体結合の形成機構と細胞周期開始制御機構の解明に著しい進展があった.姉妹染色分体結合の形成に中心的な役割を果たすEso1、Emc1と名付けた2種の新規因子を見いだした.解析の結果、Eso1は、ピリミジン二量体を含んだDNAを鋳型としてDNA合成できるPol ηと姉妹染色分体結合を促すドメインからなり、DNA複製装置と共に動きながら働くことが示唆された.一方、Emc1は、姉妹染色分体結合を担うコヒーシン複合体と結合し、Eso1が働かない限り結合形成を阻止すると共に、一端形成された姉妹染色分体結合を安定化する役割を果たしていることが判明した.すなわち、ファスナーに似た機構で姉妹染色分体結合が形成され維持されていることが分かった. 一方、細胞周期のG1期は、増殖や分化の開始制御に重要である.これまで、5種類の新規因子を見いだし、細胞周期開始機構の解明に中心的役割を果たしてきたが、今回、新たに2種の新規因子を見いだした.出芽酵母のPho80/85に類似のサイクリン(Pas1)とキナーゼ(Pef1)で,細胞周期開始転写因子複合体であるであるRes2-Cdc10を活性化してS期開始を促進すると共に、接合ホルモンのシグナル経路を抑制することによって分化を開始を負に制御する役割を果たしていることが判明した.
