中性子散乱に依るCaドープされたYBCOのスピンストライプ探索の研究

研究概要	高温超伝導を示す銅酸化物の内、La_2CuO_4系ではスピンと電荷がCuO_22次元面内でストライプ状のミクロ相分離自己組織構造が見つけられているが、他の系で同じストライプ構造の存在を見つけて、ストライプの存在が超伝導機構にどう関わるか一般化の検証を行うのが本研究計画である。 Caをドープすることでの酸素チェーン(CuO_<1-δ>)の不均一性を緩和することが出来れば、ホール依存性に対するより明らかな磁気相図を描いた後に、YBa_2Cu_3O_<7-δ>(δ<1)にストライプの存在を確かめると言うのが我々の意図であった。現実には中性子散乱に耐える純良大型単結晶はこのプロジェクト期間中には完成しなかったが代りに二つの画期的な進展があった。一つはYBa_2Cu_3O_<6.92>の斜方晶の長軸が一方向に揃う単一ドメイン単結晶の作製に成功し、これを使って世界で始めてフォノンの中性子散乱実験を行って格子振動の全てのモードの観測に成功した。その結果CuO_2面内のCuOの主軸を挟んだ両側の酸素の伸縮モード(half breathing)の格子振動にエネルギーがモーメンタム(Q)と共に大きくシフトする異常な現象が面内の長軸と短軸で違うことが検出された。実験で求められた全ての振動モードにたいして最も単純な規準モードの解析を行った結果、此の特殊なモードのみ大きなエネルギーシフトが存在する。このことからこの方向に強い電子格子相互作用の存在が示唆される。現在この余分な市価も大きなエネルギーシフトの原因となる電子格子相互作用の強さの定量的導出を試している段階である。他方超高分解能、非弾性放射光X線散乱装置がSpring8に完成し、此の装置を使ってフォノン散乱が可能になった。La_<2-x>Sr_xCuO_4の単結晶(大きさ直径1mm以下)で80meV位のフォノンを分解能5meV以下で測定できる事を証明した。此の結果は大型単結晶育成困難なCa doped YBa_2Cu_3O_<7-δ>のフォノンの測定に道を開くもので最初に目論んだストライプの検証をYBa_2Cu_3O_<7-δ>の系で行おうとした本プロジェクトの将来に明瞭な道を創るものである
