2次元超伝導絶縁体転移近傍の電子状態と磁束ダイナミクス

研究概要

2次元系の超伝導絶縁体(SI)転移の問題を正しく理解するには磁束状態の観点からの議論が不可欠である。そこで本研究では、ボルテックスグラス転移(VGT)を明確に観測できる3次元系における研究も並行して進めた。用いた系は、ミクロな乱れと一様な構造をもつアモルファスMo_xSi_<1-x>膜である。厚い(100nm)膜では、複素交流インピーダンス法を用いた磁束系の臨界緩和測定により、VGTがT=0近傍の極低温域まで存在すること、さらに磁場-温度(B-T)平面でVGT線は、T→0において温度軸に平行になり上部臨界磁場より下で磁場軸とぶつかること、すなわちT→0における量子磁束液体相の存在を明らかにした。乱れを増やしたり膜厚を薄くしていくと、磁束液体相がしだいに拡がっていくこともわかった。これは乱れの効果および低次元(2次元)性が、主として量子ゆらぎを増大させることにより液体相を拡げたものと解釈される。
最も薄い(4nm)2次元膜ではVGTの直接証拠を得ることは困難だが、厚い膜の結果から推測してT=OでVG超伝導状態が実現しているものと考えられる。2次元超薄膜ではすべての超伝導試料についてSI転移が観測された。磁気抵抗測定により、磁場印加によるSI転移の直上に局在したクーパー対の存在を示す異常な絶縁体相が存在することを見出した。この異常な絶縁体相は、膜面に平行に磁場を印加させるとまったく観測されなかった。この事実は、この異常な絶縁体相は磁束の運動が起源となって出現していることを示唆する。以上の結果は、2次元量子相転移(VG・ボーズグラス転移)の描像と一致する。さらにこの確証を得るには、この絶縁体相において磁束の存在を直接示す必要がある。一方最近になって、量子相転移を前提としない磁場誘起SI転移に対する微視的理論でも、この現象が説明され得ることがわかってきた。
