脆性破壊-塑性度形領域の震源断層岩の形成メカニズム

研究概要	本年度では、昨年度の引き続き、脆性破壊-塑性変形領域で形成されたシュードタキライトを産出する典型的な断層:ニュージーランドのAlpine fault、オーストラリアのWoodroof faultおよび中国チベット高原の活断層帯の調査を行った。これらの断層帯の脆性破壊-塑性変形領域で形成されたシュードタキライトが産状・断層せん断帯の組織構造を観察し、詳細な断面をスケッチして、断層岩のサンプル(一部定方位サンプル)を採集した。断層岩の定方位薄片で、断層岩の微細組織構造を偏光顕微鏡や電子顕微鏡で観察するとともに、断層岩の全岩組成やシュードタキライトの基質の化学組成の分析や粉末X線回析の分析を行った。さらに、脆性領域の断層帯の地震時の断層挙動を解明するために、野島地震断層帯の粘土脈の詳細な解析と同位体分析を行った。活断層・地震断層と断層破砕帯内部構造との関連性を明らかにするため、1999年台湾集集地震の調査を行い、地震断層破砕帯のコアサンプルを採集することができた。また、研究期間中の平成12年10月6日発生した鳥取県西部地震(Mj7.6)および平成13年11月14日発生した中国昆崙山中部地震(Ms8.1)の地震断層の破壊メカニズムと被害との関係は本研究の主旨である断層破壊メカニズムの解明と密接に関連しているため、地震直後現地で地震断層と地震被害の調査を行った。本年度で行った調査研究の成果の一部がすでに国際・国内の学術雑誌に公表している(12編の論文、研究発表論文リストを参照)。
