植物と昆虫の分子系統から見た植食性昆虫の寄主選択様式の進化

研究概要	植物の多様化とそれに対応した植食性昆虫の多様化の過程を調べる目的で、さまざまな陸上植物とそれを利用する植食性昆虫、特に潜葉虫の採集および飼育を行なった。調査は琉球列島を含む日本国内各地、およびニューカレドニア、オーストラリア、ビルマに及んだ。これらの調査では、特に原始的な鱗翅目の採集を心掛けた。オーストラリアではナンヨウスギの潜葉虫であるカウリコバネガが採集された。今年度、特に重点的に行なった調査は、トウダイグサ科植物の分子系統とそれを利用するさまざまな昆虫類の分子系統の解析である。琉球列島の各島をめぐり、さまざまなトウダイグサ科植物とその植食性星虫、特に子房食性、潜葉性、および虫えい形成性のホソガ類を採集した。それらを研究室に持ち帰り、DNAを抽出し、植物では葉緑体DNAおよび核DNAの、昆虫ではミトコンドリアDNAの塩基配列を決定し、系統関係を推定しつつある。特にカンコノキ属の送粉様式に着目し調査した結果、この属の調査種すべてが種子食性ホソガと絶対送粉共生の関係にあることが判明した。またカンコノキ属とホソガ類それぞれの分子系統の調査により、両者が共種分化を遂げているらしいことが示唆された。また一方で、さまざまな寄主植物を利用する潜葉虫および花粉・胞子・胚珠・子房食性昆虫の行動様式(潜孔様式を含む),寄主範囲,生活史について,調査を行なった.特に、シダ植物やコケ植物の葉や茎、胞子などを利用する昆虫相やの調査を集中的に行ない、またそれらを飼育することによって羽化成虫標本を得た。これらの昆虫はのちの分子系統解析のためにエタノール液浸標本として保存している。
