ファンデルワールスエピタキシーを用いたC_<60>の超薄膜化とマイクロトライボロジー

研究概要	フラーレンC_<60>に期待される物性としてスーパー固体潤滑剤あるいは表面保護膜への応用が考えられている。ダイカルコゲナイドである二硫化モリブデン(MoS_2)基板上ではファンデルワールスエピタキシーと呼ばれる超格子に類似した薄膜の形成が確認されているが、マイクロマシン等を対象としたマイクロトライボロジーでは、シリコン(ポリシリコン及びウェハ)やダイヤモンドライクカーボン(DLC)あるいはLIGA(Lithographie Garvanoformung und Abformung)上へのファンデルワールスエピタキシーを成功させる必要がある。このような見地から本研究では、C_<60>薄膜の構造とマイクロトライボロジー特性、薄膜/基板界面の構造、C_<60>の成長機構を原子スケールで解析・検討し、マイクロマシンのマイクロトライボロジーをターゲットとした独自のアプローチを試みることを目的としている。研究初年度である平成12年度は研究室に現有する装置にクヌーセンセルを取り付けてC_<60>薄膜のファンデルワールスエピタキシーをMoS_2(0001)基板上と水素終端化したSi(001)基板上で試みた。その結果、MoS_2(0001)基板上では基板温度100℃〜200℃において良好なファンデルワールスエピタキシーが観察されたが、Si(001)基板上においては十分なファンデルワールスエピタキシーを観察するには至らなかった。これはSi基板表面の水素終端化が不十分であったことが原因であると思われ、Si基板表面の完全な水素終端化が来年以降の課題である。
