MGC材料のバルクおよびファイバーによる耐熱強度材応用新規複合材料の開発

研究概要

今現在のところ、省Energy問題は全世界的関心の焦点になっていて、省Energy関する技術の開発のために世界中で数多の科学技術者が研究に没頭している。
本開発研究は、一方向凝固酸化物共晶体(MGC材料)を対象材料とし、「結晶作製技術の確立(バルクの形状制御法とファイバーの細径化)」、「新素材探索(三元系共晶体への展開)」、「複合化プロセスの最適化」の三つを核として推進している。
今年度の研究では、その微細構造の制御、バルク及びファイバー径の制御法の確立、高晶質・安定成長条件、高温強度特性等について基礎から応用まで幅広く研究を行づた。さらに新規共晶組成を探索しsapphire/YAG/zirconia三元系の共晶体の作製にも成功した。特に以下のような結果が得られた。
1.新素材探索:既存の二元系共晶組成に止まらず、さらに優れた機械的熱的特性をもつ新規共晶組成を探索し、世界最初にsapphire/YAG/zirconia三元系の共晶体の作製技術を確立した。
2.バルクの形状制御:結晶作製時には坦塙先端にメニスカスを保持するが、この堆塙先端の形状と結晶の形状の間に強い相関関係が存在するのを見出しており、この解析結果を応用し、5mmφまでのロッドおよび幅10mmの板状の形状をもっバルク結晶の形状制御に成功した。
3.高温強度特性:引っ張り強度を室温(大気中)および1500℃(アルゴン中)において評価し、これまでに、室温(大気中)で1730MPa、1200℃(アルゴン中)で970MPaという世界最高強度値を得た。
