両親媒性複雑液体の圧力誘起構造相転移とそのダイナミクス・カイネティクス

研究概要

界面活性剤や脂質など親水基、疎水基の双方を持つ両親媒性分子は、水や油を混合して特徴的長さが数十〜数百オングストローム程度のセミミクロ構造を形成する。この中でイオン性界面活性剤AOT、重水、デカンからなる系は室温常圧でwater-in-oil droplet構造となるが、温度上昇、圧力上昇により同様の構造相転移(希薄droplet相では2相分離)が見られる。そこで本研究では、この系の温度変化と圧力変化の要因を、中性子小角散乱と中性子スピンエコー法を用いて詳細に調べた。これにより、膜の弾性係数は温度上昇によってほとんど変化しないのに対して、圧力では増大する事が分かった。この結果は、膜の構造変化のミクロな要因が温度、圧力により違うという描像を裏づける。我々はこの結果をWurgerらによるミクロスコピックなモデルを用いて解析し、圧力により界面活性剤の疎水基間の相互作用が増大する事を示した。
次に我々は非イオン性界面活性剤C_<12>E_5と重水、オクタンからなる系を取り上げ、温度、圧力による構造変化の様子を調べた。そして非イオン性界面活性剤の場合にはイオン性界面活性剤とは違い、温度と圧力の効果が逆になることを示した。また高圧で六方晶的構造が現れるという結果を得た。
更に我々はリン脂質であるDPPCの水溶液系の構造の圧力・エタノール濃度依存性を、中性子小角散乱とX線小角散乱により調べた。この結果、L_α相、P_β相、L_βI相に挟まれる温度、圧力領域に、膜の繰り返し周期が通常の2倍程度の大きさになる新しい構造を見いだした。そして二分子膜の膜厚がゲル相と同じで水の領域のみが拡大していることから、この構造を「膨潤ゲル相」と名付けた。
