シリアデデリエネアンデルタール幼児人骨の形態学的研究

研究概要

同じ遺跡のデデリエ1号と2号との形態比較で、類似する点として、ネアンデルタールの特徴を示す頭蓋形態、頭蓋冠と顔面の大きさ、歯の形態と大きさが挙げられる。一方、相違する点として、咀嚼に関する顎顔面骨の大きさ、四肢骨の大きさが抽出された。具体的には、頭蓋冠や顔面では、1号と2号は形態や大きさが大変類似するのに対して、咀嚼に関係する、頬骨弓の高さ(zygomatic process height)、そして、下顎、とくに、骨体の高さと厚さ(corpus height and thickness)では、2号は、明らかに小さい。分析を行っていないが、項平面や顎二腹筋窩でも、1号に比べ、2号は小さい。歯では、非計測項目の組合せは、デデリエをSkhul-Qafzehの違いを明確にするが、計測値はそれほどでもない。デデリエ1号と2号は歯の形態では、よく類似する。デデリエ1号の大腿骨長や脛骨長は、現代人の平均よりも長いが、統計学的には、0.05をわずかに超えて、有意ではない。デデリエ2号については、現代人集団の変異の中に充分入っている。他のネアンデルタールや早期新人たちも現代人の変異幅の中に落ちる。一方、デデリエ1号の大腿骨や脛骨の周は、現代人平均より有意に大きい。デデリエ2号は現代人平均に近く、有意差は認められない。他の化石も現代人の変異の中に入るので、他のネアンデルタールや早期新人の特徴は見られなかった。
