高周波分光法による超臨界流体中におけるコソルベントの溶存状態の解明

研究概要

分析化学的有用性が確証されている超臨界流体中における溶質の溶存状態の解明は、分離・精製・分析効率を高めるために必須で基礎的な研究課題である。そこで本研究では、高周波分光法を世界に先駆けて超臨界流体に適用する独創的な研究を発想した。超臨界二酸化炭素中における溶解性、反応性、選択性などを向上させるためにコソルベント(助溶媒、エントレーナー)と呼ばれる補助的な溶媒が添加される。コソルベントによってもたらされる溶質/溶媒分子間相互作用の変化が溶質の溶存状態に重大な役割を果たし、化学反応の性質を左右する重大な因子である。そこで、溶液の誘電率変化を極めて高い分解能で敏感に検出することが可能な高周波分光法を超臨界流体溶液系に適用し、溶質/溶質、溶質/溶媒および溶媒/溶媒分子間の相互作用についての情報を得ることを目的とした。
超臨界流体溶液系に高周波分光法を適用できる観測セルを設計・開発し、高周波分光測定装置一式を完成した。これを用いて、水の高周波共鳴スペクトルの温度依存性、水/エタノール混合系の高周波共鳴スペクトルのモル分率依存性、超臨界二酸化炭素の高周波共鳴スペクトルの温度および圧力依存性、それに超臨界二酸化炭素中の水の溶解度と高周波共鳴スペクトルとの関係等を系統的に実験・研究した。これらの分子論的解明は今後の一層の研究を待たなければならないが、本研究の当初の目的は十分に達成されたと考えられる。
