磁性金属を内包した単層ナノチューブの単分子物性

研究概要	1.単層カーボンナノチューブは、2次元のグラフェンを丸めた擬1次元構造をとるが、量子閉じこめ効果により、その電子構造は単純な1次元系と考えることができる。1次元金属においては、電子はフェルミ液体から朝永・ラッティンジャー液体へと変わることが理論的に示されており、特にナノチューブの場合には、長距離クーロン相互作用が支配的となることが予測されている。これまでは電気伝導などの間接的な測定しか行われていなかったが、今回我々は光電子分光スペクトルを測定することにより、カーボンナノチューブの伝導電子が朝永・ラッティンジャー液体状態であることを、直接観察することに成功した。室温、10K及び中間温度のすべてにおいて、フェルミレベル近傍の状態密度は結合エネルギーの「べき」依存性を示し、そのスロープは0.46であることが明らかとなった。これは理論的予想通り、長距離クーロン相互作用が支配的であることを示している。フェルミレベル上の状態密度も温度のべきで変化し、そのスロープも同じ0.46であることを確認した。スペクトル形状の変化も理論計算と非常に良い一致を示し、この結果から、理論計算で用いる積分のカットオフの値を実験的に求めることが可能になった。使用した試料は、高純度のバンドル試料であり、このような3次元的に凝集した試料においても1次元的性質が強く現れることは、驚くべき結果であると同時に、ナノチューブの電子状態の本質的特徴を捉えているとも考えることが出来る。 2.ナノチューブの電子物性に与える磁性元素の影響を調べるために、Gd@C82,Dy@C82,La@C82,等の金属内包フラーレンをナノチューブに高密度に充填することに成功した。充填率はまだC60等に及ばないものの、電子線回折、X線回折により、内部のフラーレン1次元結晶に秩序が現れることを見いだした。今後、充填率をさらに上げる予定である。また、金属塩化物を充填し、それを水素還元することにより金属内包ナノチューブを合成することに成功した。これは、各種金属に適応できる。今後この手法を確立し、高密度に金属を内包したナノチューブの合成を行う予定である。
