高圧下におけるFeO,NiOおよびCoO液体の部分モル体積測定

研究概要	珪酸塩メルト中の遷移金属成分の部分モル体積は,惑星形成初期に起こった核マントル分離過程を親鉄元素分配から読みとる上で鍵となる物理量である。特に部分モル体積の圧力による変化を知ることは極めて意義深い。本研究ではX線吸収法を珪酸塩メルトに適用し,その高圧力下における密度測定法を確立し,珪酸塩メルトの体積(密度)の組成変化からメルト中のFeOやNiOなどの遷移金属成分の部分モル体積を見積もることを目標にしている。現在,大型放射光施設SPring-8のBL22においてキュービック型高圧装置を用いたX線吸収実験を進めている。これまでに,単結晶ダイヤモンドから成る珪酸塩メルト用の全く新しい試料容器を考案して実用化に成功した。ダイヤモンドは炭素から成るためX線に対する吸収が十分に小さいため,珪酸塩メルトによるX線吸収率の測定を可能にするだけではなく,非常に浸食されにくい為,珪酸塩メルトとの反応も抑えることができる理想的な試料容器である。我々はこれを用いて,Na珪酸塩(Na2Si2O5)にFeOをドープしたガラスおよびメルトに対して圧力5GPa温度1550Kまでの条件でX線吸収実験を行い,その密度測定に成功した。これで,本研究の第1段階はクリヤーしたこととなる。部分モル体積の導出のためには,更に引き続き珪酸塩メルトの組成を変えてX線吸収実験を行う必要がある。しかしながら,これまでの成果でも非常に大きなものであることをここに強調しておきたい。これまで,高温高圧下における珪酸塩メルトの密度測定は結晶浮沈法や衝撃圧縮実験により行われてきたが,測定の温度圧力条件が限られていた。これらの方法に対し我々の行った高温高圧X線吸収法の利点は任意の温度圧力で密度を測定することが可能な点である。我々の研究がマグマ物性の研究のひとつのブレークスルーとなることを期待する。
