研究概要

メタサーバの最初のバージョンを立ち上げた。このメタサーバは情報資源選択のためのプラットフォームを提供するものである。具体的な研究活動には以下の3項目を計画し実施した。
(1)多次元ジオメディアに基づくメタデータベースにおける「テンプレート」の管理と設定を研究した。ここでテンプレートとは、キーワード、注釈、テクスチャパターン、色パターン、形状パターンなどを指すものである。このようなテンプレートに基づくアプローチを適用することにより、ジオメディアデータベースの特徴ベクトルはテンプレートの集合に対する類似度に基づいてクラスタに分割され、またメタサーバはテンプレートと統計的情報の両方に基づいて群化した。
(2)メタサーチエージェントのための資源選択手法を設計するとともに、ジオメディアデータベースのクラスタを表現する際の、テンプレートやメタデータの有効性の評価を行った。このタスクでは、ジオメディアデータベースとテンプレートとの間の視覚的な関係を表現する統計的情報を収集することが鍵であった。ある特定の問い合わせに関して重要なジオメディアデータベースは「2レベルプロセス」で決定した。すなわち、まずテンプレートと問い合わせとの類似度を決定し、次にこれらの視覚的な関係に基づいてジオメディアデータベースサイトを順番づけ、同時に、ジオメディアデータベースの索引づけアルゴリズムも、各データベースに実装した。
(3)ジオメディア情報資源の選択という文脈に基づくWaveCluster法の拡張について研究を進めた。また多重解像度クラスタリングコンポーネントの第1バージョンを配布した。
