粒状海氷の諸特性と大気・海洋への影響評価

研究概要

海氷の構造の違いによる浸透特性や放射特性の相違が指摘されている。また、海氷の成長に及ぼす積雪の寄与が注目されている。浸透特性や放射特性の海氷構造による相違および積雪による影響を実験室や野外観測など多角度から解明する。
山形県新庄市にある独立行政法人・防災科学技術研究所の雪氷防災実験棟において、以下の海水凍結実験を行った。透明アクリル製の2個の実験水槽(内寸80X80X60cm,厚さ2cm)に約32psuの海水を高さ50cmまで張った。水槽の縁や底からの凍結を防ぐため断熱材で覆った。一つは静穏な状態で他は水槽の中に入れたプロペラにより海水を攪拌して、凍結させた。実験期間中、適時水槽の観測窓から結氷状態(成長過程)を観察した。作成した氷のサンプルを回収して、厚片・薄片を作成・観察し、密度・塩分を測定した。さらに酸素および水素同位体比の測定を行った。また、海氷の構造の違いによる放射特性の相違も観測した。ともに3層において水中日射計を設置し、日射量を連続測定した。適時スペクトロメータでスペクトル強度を測定した。
野外観測では、サロマ湖において塩分濃度の変化する河口から湖口の測線、およびそれに交差する測線で、海氷のサンプルを採取した。これは同湖の海氷がいかなる構造の氷から成るかを観測するものであり、以前に開発された海氷成長モデルの検証を行うものである。今後、海氷の構造・塩分・同位体比を測定する予定である。また、透水係数の測定も行った。
