粒状海氷の諸特性と大気・海洋への影響評価

研究概要

海氷の成長に及ぼす積雪の寄与が注目されている。また、海氷の構造の違いによる放射特性や浸透特性の相違が予想される。以下に述べる2種類の海氷の成長過程や放射・浸透特性の変化を実験室や野外観測など多角度から解明することを試みた。
山形県新庄市にある独立行政法人・防災科学技術研究所の雪氷防災実験棟において、2個の実験水槽を用いて以下の海水凍結実験を行った。一つは静穏な状態で短冊状の海氷を、他は海水を攪拌して粒状の海氷を作成した。その後海氷の上に降雪装置にて雪を積もらせ、雪氷を作成した。実験期間中、適時水槽の観測窓から結氷状態を観察した。また、海氷の構造の違いによる放射性の相違も観測した。ともに3層において水中日射計を設置し、日射量を連続測定した。適時スペクトロメータでスペクトル強度を測定した。実験終了後氷のサンプルを回収して、厚片・薄片を作成・観察し、密度・塩分・酸素同位体比の測定を行った。
サロマ湖において塩分濃度の変化する河口から湖口の測線、およびそれに交差する測線で、海氷観測を行っている。これは同湖の海氷がいかなる構造の氷から成るかを長期に観測するものであり、以前に開発された海氷成長モデルの検証を行うものである。今年度は結氷面積が異常に少なく、全測定点での観測はできなかった。しかし、その異常の原因を探ることは、結氷状況および氷厚を制御する要因の解明にとって好機である。
