研究概要

材料科学における未解決の現象を数理科学の立場から、分担者相互が密接な連絡をとりながら、実験、モデルの構築、計算機シミュレーション、方法論の開発を行った。
1.高分子共重合体のミクロ相分離構造間転移の実験、計算機シミュレーション、および理論解析を行った。また、選択溶媒中のブロックコポリマーが形成する自己会合体の形状の転移について,自己無撞着平均場理論を用いた数値的解析を行った。
2.反応拡散系に現れる時空パターンを数理的に理解するため、境界(界面)を取り出す手法である「特異極限法」の開発を行った。その応用として、パルスダイナミクスの定式化に成功している。
3.金属表面での化学反応系における相分離現象のモデルを構築し、数値シミュレーションを行うことによって、自発的に伝搬するラメラおよびヘキサゴナル構造が存在することを見出した。また、それら伝搬する構造の振幅方程式を導出した。
4.アスコルビン酸のメタノール溶液の蒸発伴う結晶化が、アモルファスから針状結晶への1次相転移であることを実験的に確かめた。また、結晶成長速度が振動する原因を詳細に検討し、それに基づいたモデリングとシミュレーションを行った。
5.非平衡系に現れる多くのパターンダイナミクスを効果的かつ信頼性をもってシミュレーションを行うため、自動的に空間メッシュ・時間差分ステップをとることのできるアダプティブメッシュ有限要素法を用いた1変数及び2変数反応拡散系に対するプログラムを開発した。また、それを用いてシミュレーションを行い、差分法などとの比較から大幅に節点数を減らした数値計算が行えることを実証した。
