研究概要

本研究の目的は,経済システムの移行過程にあるアジア諸国における個人・世帯の行為様式の変容を,経済・社会変動にともなって新たに析出されつつある新しい下層・辺縁層(失業者,都市・農村の貧困層,出稼ぎ・離村農民など)に焦点を当てて,オリジナルなミクロデータにもとづいて分析することにある。
2002(平成14)年度の研究経緯は以下のとおりである。(1)中国については,6省13都市約5,300世帯を対象とした都市世帯・出稼ぎ農民世帯調査の解析作業をほぼ終了し,佐藤の単著を英文・和文各1冊ずつ執筆した(前者は2003年1月刊行,後者は同年10月刊行予定)。また海外共同研究者の李実も英文で複数の論文を発表した。(2)西アジア・北アフリカについては,加藤,エルシャズリーを中心に外国人研究グループとして初めての都市世帯調査をエジプトのカイロ首都圏において実施した。またチュニジアにおいても4カ所の農村で出稼ぎ状況の調査を行った。2003年3月段階でそれぞれデータの整理・分析を進めつつある。また2003年春には,エジプトにおける都市世帯調査を継続するとともに,調査範囲を農村にまで拡大すべく,エジプト中央統計局の協力のもとに準備を進めている。(3)南アジアについては,谷口がベンガル農村における階層分化と貧困の歴史的研究を進め,これまでの通説的理解に疑問を投げかける論文を発表した。
このように研究の進捗状況は総じて順調であり,2003年度は成果取りまとめに注力するとともに,研究を次の段階に進めるべく研究組織の再編成,新たな予算申請を検討したい。
