微分位相幾何学と特異点

研究概要	4次元多様体から3次元多様体への安定写像の大域的振る舞いについて、微分位相幾何学の立場から詳細に調べ、まず特異ファイバーを、右左同値によって完全に分類することに成功した。このような結果は今までにまったくなく、新しい結果であるとともに、写像の大域的研究において今後も重要な役割を果たすことが期待される。さらに、それらの隣接関係についても詳しく調べ、特異ファイバーの個数に対する関係式もいくつか得た。これらについては今後、特異ファイバーに対する普遍複体やトム多項式といった概念を用いて、さらに精密に調べてゆく計画である。また、4次元閉多様体が与えられたとき、それが3次元多様体への折り目写像を許容するかどうかについても研究を行い、許容するための必要十分条件を、4次元多様体の交叉形式の言葉で完全に記述することにも成功した。それと関連して、一般次元の折り目写像についても調べ、そうした写像の特異点集合の自己交叉類がポントリャーギン類で表現できることを示し、それを用いて、折り目写像の非存在性に関する新しい結果も得た。また、3次元多様体の5次元空間へのはめ込みの正則ホモトピー類について、特異点論の立場から調べ、3次元多様体のスピン構造との深い関係を示す新しい結果を得た。また、3次元多様体の5次元空間への埋め込みのコボルディズム類についても、微分位相幾何学の立場から研究し、高次元と異なり、この次元ではスピン構造が重要な役割を果たすことを示す重要な結果を得た。さらに、極大・極小しか持たないモース関数の(有向)コボルディズム群を大域的特異点論の立場から定義し、6次元以上の場合にそれらがホモトピー球面のなす群と同型となることを示した。
