光反応性高分子液晶の高効率3次元光配向マニピュレーション

研究概要

本研究では側鎖に光架橋性メソゲンを有する高分子液晶を用いた配向フイルムに関する研究をおこない、その大きな面内配向および面外配向を3次元的に制御を行った。
2年間の研究では側鎖に種々の置換基を有するシンナモイルオキシビフェニル基を有する高分子液晶やそれらとアゾベンゼン基を有するモノマーとの共重合体等を合成し、それらの熱特性と光配向特性について詳細に検討した。その結果、大きな分子再配向を有するためには高分子液晶がネマチック液晶性を示すことやスメクチック液晶性の場合には面外配向を誘起する場合があることを明らかにし、斜め露光による3次元傾斜配向を実現し位相差フイルムとしての可能性を提案した。また、アゾベンゼンを有すると配向構造の安定化をはかった状態での光スイッチングが可能であることやそれらの3次元配向が可能であることを初めて実現した。さらに、光増感剤による偏光選択的な増感派の鵜の可能性や表面レリーフ形成などの新しい現象を見い出し、今回検討した高分子液晶の新しい展開につなげることができた。
