分光実験手法を組合せた高温超伝導体におけるキャリアのダイナミックスと構造の研究

研究概要

高温超伝導メカニズム解明への寄与を念頭に、高温超伝導の舞台となっている2次元CuO_2面について、フェルミ準位近傍の低エネルギー領域の電子構造およびダイナミックスの解明を目指した実験を行っている。本研究では、(1)化学組成を精密に制御した一連の高温超伝導体単結晶試料を作製し、(2)光学スペクトル、走査トンネル顕微鏡/分光(STM/STS)、そして角度分解光電子分光(ARPES)という種々の分光実験手法を組合せて行うというアプローチから、この課題に取り組んでいる。
実験に先立って、温度可変顕微分光システムの構築を行い、その動作確認を終了した。
高温超伝導体として研究対象としたのはCa_<2-x>Na_xCuO_2Cl_2である。その理由として、この物質では、反強磁性絶縁体から超伝導体までの組成(キャリアドープ量)を合成可能なこと、単純な結晶構造で、単結晶は良好なヘキ開性を有するなどの利点があげられる。つまり、高温超伝導メカニズムと密接に関連しているドープに伴う電子構造の発達過程を明らかにするのに理想的な系と考えたからである。Na組成xを系統的に変化させた単結晶試料を作製し、構築した温度可変顕微分光システムによる光学反射率測定と、光測定と相補的な情報を与える角度分解光電子分光測定を行った。これまでに、キャリアのドープにより、反強磁性絶縁体である母物質(x=0)のバンドが、分散関係をほとんど変化させることなくフェルミ準位へとシフトして金属化(超伝導の発現)が生じていることを示唆する結果を得ている。このような「Rigid Band Shift」的な描像は、典型的な高温超伝導物質といわれるLa_<2-x>Sr_xCuO_4における、母物質のバンドギャップ間にドープに伴って新たな状態が形成されるという報告と大きく異なっていることから、今後、更に温度依存性なども検討してゆく予定である。
