研究実績の概要 |
This study proposed to investigates and highlights the importance of rare earth minerals and rare metals to Japan' s manufacturing industry ; which minerals might be termed “critical” and why ; the extent to which the availability of these minerals is subject to restriction in the short to the long term. Based on this plan I have collected enough data and is in the final stage of wrting the report. Based on my interaction with a number of rare earth trading and using companies like Toyota Tsusho, and Toyutsu rare earrh coorporation and research institute like Mitsubishi UFJ research and consulting and Canon institute of golabl studies, some of the critical industrial sectors have been identified. Based on the collected data I had made presentation in conference on rare earths held in Hainan China on the topic "Supply Chain Vulnerabilities and Value Chain Uncertainties : Assessment of Japan's Rare Earth Strategy"(http://www.creforum.org/index.php)

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The major worry to the government and companies in Japan is losing the competiveness and market share in RE based products to emerging countries like China, making uncertainties in their value chain. The next plan is to evaluate and write the major developments in rare earth using industries in Japan, their supply chain dependence on Chinese companies and Japan' s efforts to build alternate supply chains in recent years. the report will also trace the value chain link between major rare earth companies in China and Japan specializing in separation, oxide, alloys, metallurgy, ferro-neodymium, ferro-dysprosium, permanent magnets etc. Since some of the information is still missing, I plan to attend one more conference on rare earths where there is a specific presentation on Japanese rare earth industry
