For the FY2013, we have finished the collection of the transcriptome data from multiple Drosophila cell types at different stages of development using the CAGE experimental protocol. In order to use the data to analyze the transcriptome changes that occur during the course of Drosophila da neuron development, I have completed the following analyses : 1. Assessment of the quality of the CAGE data to determine which samples could be used for further analysis, 2. Mapping the data to the Drosophila genome, determining the location and expression levels of the CAGE tag clusters for all samples, and filtering them to remove those that were unlikely to be true transcription start sites. 3. Overall summarization of the data to study the characteristics of the obtained tag clusters, their associated genes, and the overall differences among the cell types being compared, 4. All possible pairwise comparisons among the samples to identify which genes were differently expressed and what kind of functions and biological pathways they were involved in, 5. Grouping the genes according their expression profile similarities and identifying the common biological functions and pathways for each group. I am currently in the process of interpreting the functional analysis results to elucidate the changes that take place during development
