研究概要

本研究課題において、空間ワーキングメモリと空間選択的注意の回路研究を行った。空間ワーキングメモリと空間選択的注意課題では、前頭前野(prefrontal cortex)と後部頭頂野(posterior parietal cortex)が活動することはイメージング法によって明らかにされている。しかしながら、この2つのエリアが課題遂行にどのように関っているのかということは未知の点が多い。とくに、回路メカニズムはほとんど調べられていない。そこで、これを調べるために、前頭前野と後部頭頂野からなる回路モデルを構築した(Tanaka 2002a, b)。各エリアは3層モデルで、層特異的なエリア間結合を仮定した(Barbas and Rempel-Clower 1997)。回路の規模はニューロン数2880(2160 pyramidal cells,720 interneurons)である。また、ニューロンはleaky integrate-and-fire modelで記述されている。
上記モデルを用いてニューロン活動のシミュレーションを行い、皮質間フィードバック結合の効果を調べた。フィードバックの効果は双方向的で、後部頭頂野のみならず、前頭前野のニューロン活動がフィードバック・ゲインとともに大きく変化する;同じ場所のターゲットを2回提示することで、match enhancementが起きる;フィードバック結合を介して伝えられるtop-down biasは、ネットワーク全体のロバスト性を変える;このtop-down biasによりtarget selectionが起きることなどが示された。
