高温超伝導体および低次元銅酸化物における電荷とスピンの秩序と超伝導の競合・共存

研究概要

1.La系高温超電導体La_<2-x>Sr_xCu_<1-y>Zn_y_O4のx=0.10,0.115,0.13において、Zn量を細かく変化させた試料を作成し、μSR実験と帯磁率の測定を行い、磁性と超伝導の関係を調べた。その結果、Zn濃度とともに増加するCuスピンのゆらぎがスローイングダウンした領域の体積分率と非超伝導の領域の体積分率がよく一致していることが分かった。この結果は、Znが電荷とスピンの動的なストライプ秩序をピン止めするために、Znの周りでは静的なストライプ秩序が形成され、超伝導が破壊されるとする所謂ストライプモデルとスイスチーズモデルで理解できることが分かった。また、La_<2-x>Sr_xCu_<1-y>Ni_yO_4のx=0.13においても、Ni量を細かく変化させた試料を作製し、同様の測定を行った。その結果、NiにもZnと同様の効果があるが、スピンをもつNiは非磁性のZnほど動的なストライプ秩序をピン止めする力が強くないことが分かった。
2.酸素の相分離を抑制したLa系La_<1.8>Nd_<0.2>CuO_<4+δ>において観測されていた1/8異常(P〜1/8において超伝導が抑制される現象)は、同様の過剰酸素La系La_<2-x>Bi_xCuO_<4+δ>では観測されなかった。この物質では、CuO_2面が平坦な結晶構造をしており、この平坦さが動的ストライプ秩序のピン止めを阻害し、1/8異常の出現を阻止しているものと推測された。
3.種々の低次元量子スピン系銅酸化物の熱伝導を測定した。特筆すべきは、4本足梯子格子系La_2Cu_2O_5において、梯子の足方向の伝導率が極めて大きくなることを発見したことである。そして、このマグノンによる熱伝導の寄与が極めて大きいと結論した。また、スピンギャップ系であるTlCuCl_3では、低温・強磁場におけるマグノンのボーズ-アインシュタイン凝縮相で熱伝導度が著しく増大することを発見した。
