深海に生息する動物プランクトンの生理・生態に関する研究

研究概要

平成14年度は、練習船おしょろ丸123、124、130、131、133次航海、うしお丸11、13、17次航海に乗船し、親潮域を中心とした北太平洋西部亜寒帯域において周年にわたる中・深層性動物プランクトンの採集、実験及び資料の解析を行った。その主要成果は次のようにまとめられる。
1.生活史:時系列採集試料の解析により、これまで未知であった中層性貝虫類1種(Discoconchoecia pseudodiscophora)、中層性端脚類1種(Primno abyssalis)の生活史が解明され、同時にこれら2種の分布深度、現存量について知見が得られた(論文として発表)。他の種についても現在解析中である。
2.代謝活性:保温式コッドエンドを装着した開閉ネットにより、深海より「生きた」状態で採集された約30種の動物プランクトンの酸素消費速度を飼育による直接法と、凍結による電子伝達系酵素群の活性から推定する間接法により測定した。その結果の解析は現在進行中であるが、解析結果は平成15年3月末の日本海洋学会春季大会、5月の第三回国際動物プランクトンシンポジューム・特別ワークショップで発表する予定である。
3.体化学組成:約30種の深海性動物プランクトンについて、水分、灰分、炭素・窒素・水素組成が明らかとなり、表層性の動物プランクトンのそれに比べて大きくは異ならないことが判明した。核酸(DNA, RNA)については、今年度は分析用試料の収集と分析精度向上の検討を行い、分析は次年度に集中して行う予定である。
