研究概要	平成15年度には、ランボー、松林、河野、西渕が中心となって、ベトナムにて、65歳以上の地域在住高齢者約500名に関する老年医学的、社会経済的実態調査を実施した。その研究成果の一部として、ランボーと河野は、Kono Yasuyuki and A.Terry Rambo, Preface to a Special Issue on Sustainable Agro-Resources Management inthe Mountainous Region of Mainland Southeast Asia(Tonan Ajia Kenkyu41,2004,forthcoming)およびSome key issues relating to sustanable agro-resources management in the mountainous region of manland Southeast Asia(Tonan Ajia Kenkyu 41,2004,forthcoming)を公刊の予定である。また松林は共同論文として、Depression, age and ADL in community-dwelling elderly(Gerialrics and Gerontology International), Chronomics for chronoastrobiology with immediate spin-offs for life quality and longevity(Biomed Pharmacother 57)ほかの論文を発表した。さらに西渕はベトナムのカンホア州(ナチャン市周辺)1月から11月にかけて流行した下痢症の患者情報と分離保存していた原因菌株を解析した。1000人あたりの腸炎ビブリオ感染症による年間の症例数は6才未満、6才から65才まで、65才以上では、であった。腸炎ビブリオのうち50%が世界的大流行をおこしている菌株であったが、菌株の違いによる影響は認められなかった。この地域で種々の下痢症のため治療を必要とした1000人あたりの年間症例数は上記年齢層であった。以上から、下痢症一般については、小児に次いで、高齢者の発症率が高かったが、当時流行した腸炎ビブリオ感染症については、高齢者が最も低かった。腸炎ビブリオは魚介類の摂食を介して発生する感染症であるので、高齢者の摂食する食材の種類によって腸管感染症の発生率が低下する可能性を示唆している。当地では魚介類は高級食材であり、今後高齢者の経済状態や食習慣と下痢症の発生率の関連性を調査する必要があると判断された。
