研究概要

ベトナム中部・コンツム地塊に分布する変成岩類のうち,カンナック岩体,ンゴック・リン岩体,およびカム・ダック岩体について,2002年度末に約30日間の野外調査を実施した.この調査で得られた各岩体を特徴づける岩石について,変成条件・変成プロセスの精密解析を行った.その結果,カンナック岩体で確認されていた1000〜1050℃・約1.1GPa以上の最高変成条件をしめすザクロ石-斜方輝石-珪線石片麻岩(泥質グラニュライト)と,ンゴック・リン岩体から見出されていた950〜1000℃・約1.7GPa以上をしめすザクロ石-単斜輝石-石英グラニュライト(苦鉄質エクロジャイト)は,時計回りの同じ変成履歴をしめすことが明らかになり,高圧のエクロジャイト相からグラニュライト相へ至る等温減圧過程も精密に解析された.苦鉄質エクロジャイトに含まれるジルコン中には,コース石から転移したとみなされるSiO_2鉱物も確認され,超高圧変成作用を経験した可能性も指摘された.
また,前年度に実施したSm-Nd内部アイソクロン法による年代測定に続いて,イオンマイクロプローブを用いたU-Pb系のSHRIMP年代測定を予定したが,国内に設置された機器の不調により実際の年代値を得るには至らなかった.しかし前年度までに明らかにされていた同位体年代から,コンツム地塊の変成作用とゴンドワナ超大陸のテクトニクスの関連を検討するため,ゴンドワナ超大陸の中心に位置したスリランカの超高温変成岩類との対比を試み,両者が極めて類似した変成プロセスを経たことが明らかになった.これらの成果は,南極を含む環インド洋地域のゴンドワナ超大陸断片の再構成を検討する上でも重要な規制を与えることになる.共同研究者による成果報告を含み,平成15年度内に12編の公表論文(印刷中を含む),1つの特集号編集,および15編(国際シンポを含む)の学会等発表として報告した.
