研究概要	平成14年度に引き続き、平成15年9月にロシア・カムチャツカ(Kamchatka)半島の温泉バイオマット・温泉沈殿物・トラバーチンに関する野外調査を行い、採取した試料の分析を金沢大学で行った。調査地点はOksinskie、Apapelskie、Vilyuchinskie、Nalychevskie、Paratunskie、Dachneyである。光学顕微鏡・ED-XRF・XRD・EPMA等の分析法により沈殿物・バイオマットの組織、化学組成、鉱物組成を分析した。 Oksinskie、Apapelskie、Vilyuchinskieのバイオマットはラミナ状の構造を示し、柔軟部はシアノバクテリアと緑藻で構成されることがわかった。Nalychevskieの温泉沈殿物・バイオマット中には高濃度の砒素(43.88wt%)が、またParatunskieの温泉沈殿物には高濃度のカドミウム(9.56wt%)が見られた。Apapelskie温泉では微量の水銀(0.57wt%)が検出された。光学顕微鏡の観察によりこれらの温泉沈殿物中での微生物の生息が確認され、それらと鉱物粒子との関連を地球化学的な観点から議論した。これらの研究成果は金沢大学のScience reports(Vol.48,2004)に公表したほか第8回国際電子顕微鏡学会(2004年6月)にて発表する予定である。本研究はロシア科学アカデミー極東部のV.Okrugin教授との共同研究として行われた。
