カルコゲンガラスのX線誘起欠陥の制御:医用大面積デジタルX線センサに向けて

研究概要	医用X線画像を直接デジタル方式で得るため、フィルムを使用しない新方式(カルコゲンガラス膜を使ってX線を直接電子、正孔に変換)が提案されている。この新方式を将来大型でかつ動画処理するよう向かっているが、次のような大きな問題を乗り越えねばならない。(1)ひとつはX線照射に伴って、信号強度が低下することであり、(2)他は残像時間が長いため、動画能力に制限があることである。これらを引き起こす原因は全くわかっていない。本研究ではまず(1)の問題を探ることを主目的としている。カルコゲンガラスは可視光によってミクロな欠陥を生じることがすでにわかっており、これが光デバイスなどの性能を劣化(感度の低下)させる。X線によって欠陥が生成すれば、電子、正孔のキャリア収集能力が低下するため、X線感度が落ちるはずである。本研究ではX線がカルコゲンガラスに及ぼす影響をまず欠陥生成という立場から検討している。カルコゲンガラスのひとつであるSeについて、これまでに得られた主要な結果を以下に要約する:(1)X線照射に伴ってキャリア収集率は低下する(拡張指数関数という関数形で表現できる)。(2)X線照射に伴って光伝導度は低下しない。(3)X線照射に伴って光ルミネッセンスは低下しない。上記事実は研究開始当初の予想に反して、X線照射が欠陥を生成するのではないことを示唆している。キャリア収集効率低下の原因は欠陥生成にないとすれば、X線によって生成するキャリア(電子、正孔)の空間の分布(トラップ:捕獲)が問題となるであろう。これらに関する理論を通した検討を行った。カルコゲン材料は光によって(あるいは過剰電子、正孔)体積の変化をもたらしたり、種々の物性の変化を伴うので、これら周辺の実験検討も加えた。次ページ研究発表は直接、間接に上記諸問題と関係する。
