研究概要	本研究のテーマは、陽電子の持つ反粒子としての特徴を使い、高分子材料の特性解析を行うことである。陽電子は、電子と相互作用をして消滅するか、或いは、ポジトロニウム(Ps)という水素元素に似た構造の結合状態を形成した後で消滅する。Psは高分子空孔に捕捉されると、空孔の大きさに相関した寿命で消滅する。この寿命を測定することにより、高分子材料の空隙の大きさを定量的に決定することが出来るという特徴を持っている。陽電子消滅法の手法の中で陽電子寿命測定法(PALS)は、一般的に行われており、数100μm〜1mmのような厚い高分子材料を解析する場合は、Na-22のような放射性同位元素(RI)から発生する陽電子を使い、高分子空孔の大きさを定量的に評価している。数10nm〜μmのような高分子薄膜や表面の特性を解析する場合、薄膜中で停止するようなエネルギーの低速陽電子ビーム装置を用いる必要がある。このような装置を用いると薄膜中や表面近傍に存在する高分子空隙を測定することが出来るので、半導体技術に欠かせない半導体表面の被膜特性を測定することが可能である。半導体などの金属表面に被覆した高分子膜の自由体積を測定する場合、非破壊で測定することは困難であるが、本研究を通して開発した短パルス化低速陽電子ビーム装置を用いると、非破壊で、基板(Si等)表面上に塗布した50ナノメータ(nm)〜数ミクロン厚さのエポキシ樹脂薄膜の自由体積を求めることができる。本研究では、この装置を用いて、基板上の薄膜の温度特性を求めた。本装置は、放射性同位元素を用いた短パルス化低速陽電子発生装置で、ビームの半値幅が0.5〜0.9nsであり、金属のPALSには不十分であるが、高分子材料の表面の研究を行なうには十分な性能である。
