海洋動物プランクトン、特にカイアシ類の寄生生物の分類・生態に関する研究

研究概要

瀬戸内海及びその他の海域で動物プランクトンの寄生生物の分類及び生態について以下のような新知見を得た。
瀬戸内海産アミ類Siriella okadaiの雌の育房内に寄生し、その卵を食するカイアシ類の分類学的検討を行った結果、本邦では正式な記録がないNicothoidaeに属する未記載属であることが判明し、記載を行った。成体雌雄、コペポディッド幼体がアミ類の育房から発見された。寄生率を1年間調査した結果、2003年6月に最高約9%に達した。同所的に、同宿主の育房内には寄生性等脚類のProdajus sp.(新種の記載と発生段階の論文を投稿中)も寄生するが、宿主の卵を巡る資源競争があると推定される。なお、等脚類の寄生率が高い時期には宿主育房内にはカイアシ類が見られないこともわかった。
瀬戸内海産浮遊性カイアシ類に付着する隔口類繊毛虫Vampyrophrya pelagicaのtrophontを電子顕微鏡で観察したが、細胞先端に大きな細胞口が存在するので飲作用でカイアシ類の組織などを摂食しているのではないと考えられる。また、phorontが付着するカイアシ類をヤムシ類などの肉食者が捕食することがこの繊毛虫の生活史を完結させる上で重要であると示唆されているが、稚仔魚(アユを使用)の捕食の関与についても実験を行った。しかし、繊毛虫はカイアシ類とともに消化されてしまい、消化管の内部でphorontからハッチすることはなかった。沖縄の沖合及びスールー海の深海近底層から発見された肉食性及びデトリタス食性カラヌス目カイアシ類の付属肢にも隔口類繊毛虫のphorontが付着していることが確認された。浅海のみならず深海においても、これらの繊毛虫の食物連鎖における機能を評価する必要があろう。
韓国南部沿岸域からヤムシ類Sagitta crassaに外部寄生する渦鞭毛藻類Oodinium inlandicumを発見した。日本の瀬戸内海に次いで2番目の出現記録となる。
その他、カイアシ類、アキアミ類、アミ類などの寄生生物を探索する過程で、それらの生物学的な新知見を見いだしたので公表を行った。また、プランクトンとして出現する寄生性カイアシ類の分類学的研究も行った。
