データ再利用に基づくビデオ圧縮/伸張システムの最適化

研究概要	本年度は、ビデオ圧縮/伸張ハードウェアの低消費電力(低消費エネルギー)化を目的とした、データ再利用技術を開発した。詳細は以下の通りである。 1.到達目標の設定。消費電力低減に対して最適化したビデオ圧縮/伸張ハードウェアにより可能となる諸特性の改善度を定量的に検討し、到達目標を明確にした。また、ビデオ圧縮/伸張ハードウェアの最適化手法に関する要求仕様を決定した。 2.アルゴリズムの開発。提案したビデオ圧縮/伸張最適化手法を実現するためには、画像ブロックの特徴を抽出する手法とメモリ最適化手法を確立する必要がある。データ再利用技術を用いたビデオ・エンコーディング手法において、必要となる機能を調査ならびに整理した。画像ブロックの特徴を抽出するための手法に関する検討を行い、そのアルゴリズムを確立した。そして、動きベクトル検出処理実行中、「変化のないブロック」群の中から、「変化のあったブロック」を検出するための手法を確立した。また、「変化のないブロック」が検出された場合、エンコードに必要となる演算処理やメモリ・アクセス処理を停止(削除)するための技術を考案した。さらに、データ転送能力を考慮して、「変化のないブロックの検出アルゴリズム」を開発した。その上に、データ再利用技術を用いたキャッシュ・メモリおよびレジスタ・ファイルの最適化手法を開発した。 3.アルゴリズムの評価。今年度に購入した高性能ワークステーション上で標準ビデオ・ベンチマークを用いてアルゴリズム・レベルでのシミュレーション、ならびに、検証を行った。
