電荷移動増強効果を制御した高感度・汎用的ラマン分光測定装置の開発

研究概要

ラマン分光法は信号が非常に微弱であるのが欠点であるが、一方で水分や大気の影響を受けないことが赤外吸収に比べて優れている。本研究では、金属基板上の吸着分子のラマン信号強度が10^4から10^6倍も増強されるという表面増強ラマン散乱(SERS)効果の機構を明らかにし、その知見を利用して、高感度・汎用的・簡易なラマン分光測定装置を開発することを目的としている。SERS効果では、いくつかの課題(1.増強される分子が限られており、またどの系統の分子が増強されるかが不明。2.金属基板状態に大きく依存し、その最適な構造や作成方法は不明。3.共存物質、特に吸着イオン種の影響を受ける。)のため、それらを明らかにすることを本研究の第1歩とした。私は、従来研究と全く異なる視点で、SERS増強の素過程を超高速時間分解分光法により明らかにする手法を確立している。そこで、この手法を用いて、金属のどのエネルギー準位から吸着分子に電荷移動することでSERSが増強されるかを確認することに成功した。まず、金属としてナノオーダーの凹凸を変化させた蒸着膜および金ナノ粒子を用いてこの測定をおこなった。それらの測定により、金の励起準位の制御、また、それに伴う電荷移動過程を制御することに成功した。次に吸着種側の条件について明らかにした。いくつかの色素系を調べることで、どのような官能基を利用して電荷移動増強が誘起されているかを明らかにした。これらの知見から、SERSの高感度化の手段として、金属表面状態を制御することでSERS増強を誘起する効率的な電荷移動を引き起こす手法を提案したそれらの情報に基づいて、SERS基板の作成をおこなった。SERS基板として、酸化-還元サイクル法を用いたSERS最適基板の作成について考祭した。また、フェムト秒レーザー加工技術も利用して能動的に基板を作成する方法についても検討した。
