In order to fulfill the objectives of current research, a fieldwork in Thailand as proposed was undertaken for one month form May 20-June 20, 2015. Interviews were conducted regarding the situation of human trafficking in Thailand and its connection with Japan with various local and international NGOs, UN agencies and government official. Dr. Uddin participated in the Science Dialogue program initiated by JSPS and delivered a lecture on human trafficking in Japan and Thailand at Namiki Secondary School on July 3, 2015. Part of the findings from the fieldwork in Thailand along with the conceptual framework of ongoing research was presented in the International Conference on International Migration and Human Security held on July 29, 2015 in Zurich. Interviews were conducted with ILO and IOM staffs in Geneva on August 4, 2015. On August 27, Dr. Uddin was invited to speak at the OECD Roundtable on Combating Corruption Related to Trafficking in Persons in Cebu, Philippines. He conducted an interview with the staff of Hurights Osaka, an anti-trafficking human rights NGO, in Osaka on December 8, 2015. There was a little change in the schedule for the fieldwork in Tokyo. On December 14, he attended a workshop organized by Justice Without Borders (JWB) and IDE-JETRO in Tokyo, which focused on the situation of Thai migrants in Japan. He conducted a three-day fieldwork in Tokyo from March 25-27, 2016 in different areas in order to observe the nature of the entertainment industry in Japan.

理由
At present, Dr. Uddin is preparing the manuscript for the original proposed research. He has been organizing the data from the fieldworks, while doing an in-depth literature review for theoretical clarification. Simultaneously, he is conducting a review on a paper that he has been invited to do by the publisher Taylor & Francis for the Journal of Human Trafficking. He has been also invited to publish a book chapter in a book entitled Criminology and Criminal Justice in South Asia, and have submitted the chapter entitled “Revisiting Gender-sensitive Human Security and Human Trafficking in South Asia: The Case of India and Bangladesh,” which is being reviewed now and hopefully will be published in September-October, 2016 from Palgrave Macmillan. As a whole, Dr. Uddin has been conducting his research almost as he initially planned.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
With the continuation of above mentioned research, future research will concentrate in publishing the result in leading international journals of social science and humanities and presenting it at next international conference. Dr. Uddin is also planning on conducting one more fieldwork in Tokyo, which would help him get update information for the current research.
