研究概要

申請者らは,顕生代の海水のOs同位体変動を日本列島付加体から産出する熱水性Fe-Mn堆積物から復元することを目的として,本研究を進展させた.その結果,350Ma以降のOs同位体の経年変動曲線を得ることに成功した.現在までのところ,次のような研究成果を得ているが,次々と重要な研究結果を得つつあり,それらの成果については今後できるだけ早く順次公表するつもりである.
重要な研究成果のひとつとして,四万十帯北帯の熱水性Fe-Mn堆積物(白亜紀/第三紀境界直前の堆積物)のOs同位体について,"Major and trace element geochemistry and Os isotopic composition of metalliferous umbers from the Late Cretaceous Japanese accretionary complex"という表題の論文を極めて重要な国際誌であるGeochemistry Geophysics Geosystems誌(2004インパクトファクター=2.864)に発表した.さらに,日本列島の顕生代付加体中に分布する熱水性Fe-Mn堆積物の地質学的,地球化学的特徴を総括する論文集(A Special Issue : Seafloor Processes and Mineralization in Panthalassa)を国際学術雑誌のResource Geology誌(2004インパクトファクター=0.515)から刊行し,それに4つの論文を発表した.
現在,地球科学分野で最もインパクトファクターの高い国際誌であるGeochimica et Cosmochimica Acta誌に"Umbers in the Tertiary accretionary complex of Japan : A recorder of Os isotopic composition of ancient seawater"という表題の論文を投稿中である.また関連する論文として,"Haematite formation by oxygenated ground-water more than 2.76 billion years ago"という表題のRe-Os datingの論文をNature誌に投稿中である.さらに,日本列島付加体中の熱水性Fe-Mn堆積物から復元した白亜紀海水のOs同位体変動について,Earth and Planetary Science Lettersに投稿する準備を現在進めている.
