研究概要

本年度は、相手国の海外共同研究者の協力を得て、210度磁気子午線沿いのオーロラ帯のアラスカ、シベリア地区での電磁場・光学観測を充実し、また、赤道域のフィリピン、ミクロネシア諸島での大気電場、電磁環境の調査を重点的に行い、全地球的規模のリアルタイム予備観測を実施した。各地点での地磁気・ULF波動の観測についても、現地協力者と協議し2004年からスタートするCAWSES国際協同研究プログラムの準備の為の年度として、以下の共同観測を実施した。
(1)、ロシアのヤクーツク宇宙物理研究所やアラスカ大学と共同で、オーロラ帯のチキシー、チョコラダーク、コテルーニー島、並びにカツビューで光学・電磁環境の予備調査を行い、オーロラ嵐や太陽風変動に伴う電磁場変動、ULF波動の観測を始めた。
(2)、ロシアのカムチャッツカの宇宙科学研究所と共同で、パラッンカ及びマガダンで電磁環境の調査を行い、中緯度での地磁気・ULF波動の同時観測を継続実施した。
(3)、空洞共鳴振動モードの電磁場変動の特異点となるプラズマポーズ付近のシベリアのズリヤンカで電磁場観測の予備調査を行った。
(4)、カムチャッカのパラッンカの磁気共役点である、オーストラリアのキャンベラ郊外地、母子里とその磁気共役点のバーズビルで地磁気変動、低周波帯電磁波、並びに高エネルギー入射粒子の同時観測を行った。
(5)、オーストラリアの地磁気・ULF波動の観測点(バーズビル、ウェイパ、アデレード、ダーウィン、ダルビィ、リーマンス、カタニング)の機器点検・調整並びに更新を行うとともに、宇宙線観測を実施した。
(6)、インドネシアのビァク島、西方で同緯度のポンチィアナ、及び低緯度側のワトコセの3地点での地磁気・ULF波動の観測に加え、雷・大気電場環境の予備調査を行う。ビァク島では、地磁気長期観測をスタートさせた。
(7)、西太平洋の磁気赤道付近に位置するヤップ、フィリピン(セブ、ダバオ)の赤道ジェット電流と地磁気・ULF波動の定常観測、電離層レーダ観測を実施した。
(8)、磁気赤道に位置するブラジルのサンルイス、ペルーのアンコンと西太平洋の多点でのグローバルモード電磁擾乱の同時観測のための磁力計の点検と予備観測を行った。
(9)、各国の人工衛星との組織的な共同観測のための打ち合わせと衛星データ収集を行った。
(10)、ノルウエーなどの高緯度、オーロラ帯にて、地磁気観測・オーロラ観測・電波予備観測を行う。
(11)、アメリカ地球物理学会や札幌でのIUGG国際学等に出席し、成果発表や情報交換を行う。
