研究概要

15・16年度は、相手国の海外共同研究者の協力を得て、210度磁気子午線沿いのオーロラ帯のアラスカ、シベリア地区での電磁場・光学観測を充実し、また、赤道域のフィリピン、ミクロネシア諸島での大気電場、電磁環境の調査を重点的に行い、全地球的規模のリアルタイム予備観測を実施した。各地点での地磁気・ULF波動の観測についても、現地協力者と協議し共同観測を実施した。
最終年度の17年度も環太平洋域の多点観測点と南米、アジアの経度の隔った磁気赤道沿いの多点観測点とを組織的に組み合わせた全地球的規模の環太平洋地磁気ネットワーク(CPMN)観測を実施し、太陽風-地球磁気圏相互作用により極冠域、磁気圏境界領域、そして磁気圏尾から内部磁気圏に侵入した電磁場擾乱エネルギーとプラズマ粒子が、磁気赤道領域までどのように侵入・変換されていくのかその時空間的伝播機構とその過程、極域3次元電流系と中・低緯度の電離層ダイナモ領域に発生するSq電流系との結合過程について実証論的解明を行なった。さらに、磁力線共鳴振動法による宙空プラズマダイナミクスの診断手法確立の為の観測を実施し、所期の目的を達することが出来た。
これらの海外学術調査から、磁気圏境界から磁気赤道までの宙空領域で発生する様々な電磁・プラズマ環境変動を空間非均一・非定常が重要で高度に領域間結合した複合・複雑系の物理現象として捉えた新しい解釈と知見を得ることができた。また、2004年から始まったCAWSES/ILWS/IHY国際共同研究期間に、我が国を代表する「宇宙天気」研究として積極的に参画し、国際的な宇宙天気共同研究のための地上ネットワークデータの発信・貢献を果たすための観測ネットワークを構築するができた。
以上の研究成果は、94編の国際学術雑誌、135編の国際会議報告、126編の国内会議報告にまとめられた。
