高温キラル分子磁性体の構築と磁気物性

研究概要	キラル磁性体は、光学活性と磁気光学効果を併せ持つ結晶で、多くの新規磁気光学効果が期待されている。我々は既に幾つかのキラル磁性体の構築に成功しているが、本研究計画ではより高温の転移温度を持つキラル磁性体の構築研究を進めた。高温のキラル磁性体の構築には、1)磁気相互作用を強くする、2)磁気構造次元性の向上が必要である。我々は今までキラル磁性体を二元金属をスピン源とするCN架橋錯体(プルシアンブルー型錯体)にキラル有機配位子を導入し、その配位子の不斉誘導を用いて行ってきた。この場合、転移温度向上の条件の1)については、遷移金属イオンの磁気軌道の対称性の問題になる。本年度はより磁気軌道が直交するCr^<2+>、Ni^<2+>、V^<2+>を用いて研究を進めた。その結果、V^<2+>を用いた場合、錯体が粉末として得られたが、他のイオンに関しては、合成条件が厳しく錯体の合成には至っていない。高温化の条件2)に対しては、既に得られている二次元のキラル磁性体([Cr(CN)_6][Mn((S)-pn)H_2O]H_2O)について検討した。この錯体では、CrイオンとMnイオンがCN架橋を使って二次元に広がっている。またCrイオンの平面に垂直な配位サイトには、配位していないCN基が存在し、Mnイオンの平面に垂直な配位サイトには水が配位している。従ってMnイオンに配位している水を取り除けばMnとCrの間にCN架橋する可能性があると考え、この二次元錯体の脱水を試みたところ、全ての水が340K,真空中で取り除かれ、三次元磁性体がえられた。この脱水変化は、幸運なことに単結晶の状態で可逆的に起こり、結晶構造を明らかにすることができた。その結果、脱水された錯体は、予想通り三次元構造を持っており、キラル空間群を保ったまま転移温度は73Kに向上した。この転移温度は、構造が明らかな分子磁性体としても最高の転移温度を有する。
