我が国は、道路橋を含む膨大な量の社会資本ストックを抱えており、今後老朽化する社会資本ストックの維持管理が深刻な問題となる。社会資本ストックの維持管理の問題は、先進国だけの問題ではなく、発展途上国においても重要な問題であり、これらの情報を全世界で共有する必要がある。本研究の主な目的は、社会資本ストックの維持管理マネージメントを戦略的に行う枠組みを作ることにある。社会資本ストックの維持管理マネージメントには、膨大な知識および豊富な経験が必要であることから、専門技術者の知識や経験を整理、継承するとともに、これらのノウハウを広く普及する必要がある。構造物の維持管理においては、一番重要なことは、劣化状況、損傷状況などに関する調査・点検が適切に行われており、その記録が管理され、維持管理に活用されていることである。本研究では、情報技術を活用し、データ共有の枠組みを構築するとともに、維持上必要となる、調査・点検データの効率的な収集や整理について検討を行った。具体的には、情報ネットワークを介したデータベースシステムや維持管理情報検索システム、点検データ入力補助システムなどを構築した。このシステムは、XLMを用いてデータの標準化が図られたおり、日本国内のみならず、簡単な修正を行うことにより全世界で利用が可能である。さらには、今後は、構造物の数に比べて、点検できる専門技術者が不足することが予想されることから、構造物の遠隔モニタリングシステムについても検討を行った。
