研究実績の概要 |
The aim of this project is estimation of the Fukushima accident’s impact on the ecosystem and human health based on Pu isotopes analysis in environmental samples. Accurate measurement of of Pu isotopes as well as other artificial elements due to nuclear accident will be carried out using radiochemical procedures followed by alpha, gamma and mass spectrometry. This study will generate data set with detailed information about actinides dispersion in the environment. The benefit of this study will be as follows: estimation of the activity concentration level of actinides in the environment, identification of the contamination source/sources, prediction for localization of actinides hot spots related to Fukushima accident, and an attempt to find the Fukushima impact on the human health.

理由
Established and optimized radiochemical procedures for actinides separation in the laboratory. The calibration of alpha spectrometry and purity test of tracers was verified using developed radiochemical method. Analytical validation of our methodology was checked using standard reference materials. We focused on terrestrial ecosystem of Namie area (Fukushima prefecture) as our aim of study area. We collected samples of soil, mud, lichens, moss, litter and plants. All samples were dried, sieved and measured using gamma spectrometry to find the level of Cs isotopes contamination and traces of 241Am. We have also received a few samples that were collected during first few days after Fukushima accident (March in 2011) throughout Fukushima prefecture.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
All selected samples will be subject to radiochemical procedure for Pu, Am, U isotopes separation. Additionally, after further purification procedure m240Pu/m239Pu will be determined using mass spectrometry. Then, the obtained data set will be used for estimation of the activity concentration level of actinides in the environment, identification of the contamination source/sources, prediction for localization of actinides hot spots related to Fukushima accident and the attempt to find the Fukushima impact on the human health. This work will be presented at the international conference and published in international journals.
