研究実績の概要 |
Initially, the study was focused on the interface engineering of the perovskite solar cell via changing the lead source (PbCl2, PbI2 and Pb(C2H3O2)2). It has been observed that using lead acetate source the perovskite films growth is uniform and ultra-smooth on both devices architectures (planar and mesostructures). The other advantage of using this lead source is low temperature annealing and fast perovskite formation (within 60 sec. at 90oC). The device gave very good performance with 18.5% efficiency which was the highest from our research group and also was the highest efficiency for non-lead halide based lead source for perovskite solar cells. This finding was reported in Chemical Communications. We also started lead free perovskite which is a main part of my proposal and found very interesting results for new direction. We choose bismuth (Bi) based lead free methyl ammonium bismuth iodide (MBI) perovskite due to its non-toxicity and stability. The morphology of MBI could be tuned via choosing various scaffolds (planar, mesoporous (anatase and brookite)) and achieved more than 0.2% efficiency and devices were stable against ambient moisture in air up to 10 weeks. This is the highest efficiency of MBI perovskite so far reported for bismuth based perovskite. This study is under review in ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces.

理由
The level of research performance is good because the research work was well planned and executed properly following the plan. Especially, non-lead Bi-based perovskite crystals were synthesized and employed for photovoltaic device to achieve the highest efficiency ever attained in this research field. A peer reviewed paper was published on my perovskite-based device. However, there still a lot of room for improvement which I am strictly focusing and tracking the progress.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the first part we will continue with proposal as we have found very interesting correlation with the interface engineering and modification of existing compact layer and mesoporous layer for efficient perovskite devices. However, in second part, we will use bismuth metal for the replacement of Pb. Other Material Ge and Sn are found to be not stable and facing serious stability issue. The research will be focused on improvement of the material and interface structure of photovoltaic device by focusing on bismuth-based crystals as highly stable and environmentally benign light absorbers.
