In 2018, we carried on building the corpus with the data gathered in the four participating Universities, while at the same time developing tools to create a database and analyze the data. We finished the orthographic transcriptions aligned with the signal and annotated for phonetic and lexico-grammatical divergences with the Transcriber software, while refining the annotation system within the PhD project of Corentin Barcat (TUFS) in cooperation with Archean Labs to develop a data-mining tool (concordancer) for our corpus. We finished harmonizing the data and metadata (tagging, naming). On the phonetic-phonological level we refined our analysis of fluency, we expanded the procedure developed for Japanese learners of French to Japanese learners of English, we started coding and analyzing the production of schwa vowel in our data using the IPFC coding system and tools, in cooperation with Isabelle Racine and Romain Isely (University of Geneva), we looked at interindividual variation in the text reading task (e.g. liaison). On the lexico-grammatical level, we adjusted the parsing system to our annotation code to refine the presentation of the results and examined certain structures, such as the use of “on” or the non-standard use of “c'est” in Japanese learners' oral production (we categorized particular strategies used by learners). The research results were presented at AFLS2018 (Toulouse, France), Interspeech2018 (Hyderabad, India), Meeting Phonetic Society of Japan 2018 (Okinawa, Japan), and IPFC2018 (Paris, France), which we co-organised, among other conferences.
