研究実績の概要 |
A commissioned article was published in IEEE Security and Privacy Magazine in December 2015 titled "Possessing Mobile Devices". Seven presentations were made at the Ethicomp 2015 conference, with related articles published in the SIGCAS newsletter Computers and Society, based on the analysis of our Snowden attitudes survey. A presentation on Surveillance and (In)Visibility was made at the Intersectional Sureveillance workshop at Queens University in Kingston, Canada in June 2015.

3: やや遅れている
理由
Due to illness of the PI and the busy schedule of the overseas research partners, a meeting between the overseas partners and the Japanese investigators did not happen in the first year as originally planned. A meeting will take place in year 2 of the project instead.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Work is continuing on analysing the results of our large survey on attitudes to Snowden's revelation, in particular the attitudes of university students to broader questions of privacy and surveillance. A pilot study on the question of what people regard as "sensitive data" has been undertaken in Japan and we will be deploying versions of the same survey in Sweden and Spain as well. A meeting between the Japanese investigators and the international partners is planned for the summer which will evaluate the current state of security and privacy technology, law and user abilities and generate new proposals for improvements. A paper has been submitted to the IEEE CNS conference and multiple papers will be submitted to the APSN conference. A journal special issue of fully refereed versions of our Snowden Survey papers is in preparation for publication in late 2016 or early 2017.
