研究実績の概要 |
In last year, the research orientation was focusing on the evaluation of the micro structures of randomly oriented strands (ROS) composites as well as the mechanical properties verification and the corresponding simulation methods. The X-ray measurement and data verification of ROS were conducted with multi samples. The significance and accuracy of multi-sample micro-CT method characterization was confirmed statistically and the number of samples needed for significant and reliable internal geometry analysis of corresponding materials was provided. The internal geometries are studied in detail to reveal the relation with their mechanical properties. The ROS in different strand thickness were fabricated and tensile moduli are collected experimentally. The comparison between the standard deviation of out-of-plane angles with the elastic modulus show good quasi-linear relationship. Two different simulation approaches to calculate the tensile properties of ROS were proposed. One method is the general homogenization Mori-Tanaka model, another one is the de-homogenization equivalent laminate method. Because the simulation accuracy of these two methods have been verified in last year’s research, then the material modeling processes with the two methods are conducted in this part. The detailed component properties and the internal geometries acquired in the X-ray micro-CT analysis are applied in the modeling of materials.

理由
In last year, I have submitted the journal papers based on the research results systematically, and have 3 papers been accepted in the journal paper with highest impact factors in composites field (IF 3.897 for one and IF 3.719 for two). Furthermore, I also made presentations at two international conferences and one domestic conference, and were awarded twice. The collaboration research with KULeuven (where I have stay for 5 months as international scholar in 2015) is going on and new journal paper is under preparation. Also I visited the Imperial Collage London for 2 weeks last year and new collaboration research and journal paper preparation is under going.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The research outcomes and achievements in the last two year provided very important knowledge on the internal geometries and mechanical properties as well as material modeling of discontinuous carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastics (dCFRTP). In this year, the focus will turn to the integration of the internal geometry information with the material modeling processes to develop efficient and accurate multi-scale modeling of dCFRTP. And more detailed comparison between the simulation result with the experimental results will be carried out. With the consideration of both material researches and industrial applications, a set of solution methodology for fabricating, testing and evaluation of dCFRTP will be given.
