| 研究実績の概要 |
Previously the plan was focused on domestic travel and domestic presentations, but the Kumamoto earthquakes caused my research focus to change to activities promoting Japanese haiku criticism and modern Japanese and worldwide haiku culture, especially in international contexts, including academic and professional cultural conferences. The main research effort was on the writing and publication of the textbook,“International Haiku in Global Perspective: Earth in Sunrise, A Course for English-language Study,”an EFL/ESL textbook which utilizes haiku in English as its main educational course-content. Over 100 haiku from authors living in 36 countries are included within the 15 chapters of the book.

理由
I won a university-sponsored book publication grant:
平成２９年度熊本大学学術出版助成経費
For my book: "Investigations into the Space of Mind, of Poetry of Sanctuary: Haiku, an Ethics of Freedom," which will be published this academic year (single author) as a fulfillment of the Kaken-Hi research. Because I won this grant, I am able to attend an international conference and present this research.

1) Publication of my book: "Investigations into the Space of Mind, of Poetry of Sanctuary: Haiku, an Ethics of Freedom." 2) Public Event (Kumamoto, Japan): Presenting international haiku in poetry, lecture and with musical performance, October, 2017. 3) International conference attendance (early 2018). 4) Research results of teaching the Haiku in English Seminar with the textbook.
