研究実績の概要 |
The research is in progress 1. Thin sections from selected rock samples were prepared and petrography, EPMA analysis have been done. 2. Zircons of igneous and metamorphic origin were investigated for detailed morphology, internal structures and mineral inclusions. 3. In-situ δ18O analysis on (1) magmatic zircons and (2) metamorphic zircons have been conducted at SIMS lab of the University of Wisconsin, USA. The manuscript on those results is in progress. 4. Before the in-situ δ18O analysis the zircons were analyzed for U-Pb age, trace elements and Hf isotope composition. 5. Some of the results have been submitted for publication and are now under review.

理由
As discussed above, main target of the research project was to determine the δ18O values in magmatic zircons for the source evaluation and in metamorphic zircons for the role of water-rock interaction during subduction-related metamorphic processes. This target (in Himalaya area) was achieved by analyzing the in-situ δ18O values in magmatic and metamorphic zircons. To attest our model for the water-rock interaction, preliminary field survey and samples (rocks) collection in the area of interest (such as Sanbagawa metamorphic belt) was also conducted and work is in progress.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Principal investigator (PI) plans to conduct detailed field survey in the Shikoku area to collect additional rock samples from the Sanbagawa metamorphic belt. Sample preparation, detailed petrography, and mineral chemical analysis will be done accordingly. Undergraduate and graduate level students have been also involved and part of this work will be their graduation thesis. If budget allows, in-situ δ18O analysis of the minerals of interest will be done in the next fiscal year. Doing so, will provide answer how our proposed model works.

次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
A balance of 21,679yen was left from the last year's allocated budget. This amount was too small to be used for field survey or do some major analysis. However, PI has a plan to utilize the remaining amount in the next fiscal year as a part of next year's budget.

次年度使用額の使用計画 |
The remaining amount of 21,679 yen will be used for analysis or lab consumables in the next fiscal year.
